The Unlikely, Uplifting Message of It: Chapter Two

A semicolon in a text message is the equivalent of putting on makeup to go to the gym. Texting removes the vocal cues we once used to overanalyze if someone liked us. Now we have to look at 140 to 160 characters — and with less raw data to work with, our overanalyzing hits a whole different level of insanity. One key aspect of that insanity is reading way too much into every nuance of every text message, especially punctuation. Here are the clues his/her punctuation choices are sending (and also the clues you’re sending right back).

Isaiah is a 19-year-old with no direction, no motivation, and no relationship with Jesus. As his mother prays and enlists the support of Miss Clara (from the Kendrick Brothers’ movie War Room), they see God at work. Isaiah encounters Joshua Moore, a seasoned saint who invests in him and shows him firsthand what it looks like to be a disciple of Jesus. Now for more than 10 years, God has given me the privilege of working with the Kendrick Brothers — making movies!

“Laura + Mike. July 1991. I do it for you”; “Joe + Susan. January 1998. Our hearts will go on”; “Logan + Madison. August 2010. California gurls.” No one uses semicolons in day-to-day casual writing; it’s a literary piece of punctuation, not a colloquial one. So using a semicolon in a text shows you’ve thought out, revised, and overedited your message. That means you’re trying too hard, and there’s nothing worse than trying too hard.

Additionally, “belief” can affect It, such as the use of silver (which is a fictional weakness of supernatural entities) and an inhaler believed to contain battery acid. This means that It possesses the vulnerabilities of whatever form it take, such as a vampire’s vulnerability to sunlight or winged leeches obeying physics of flight.During times of hibernation or healing, It may be vulnerable to surprise attacks. However, other books in the Stephen King universe (such as Dreamcatcherand Hearts in Atlantis) imply that Pennywise may still be alive at the end of the story.

When the focus of discipleship came together as a compelling storyline, the cast was chosen, the crew was enlisted, locations were secured, and all the pieces began to take shape. Growing up it was a special treat to go to our one local theater on Saturday and watch a family-friendly matinee. I have always loved movies and remember being fascinated by stories, actors, excitement, and glamour.

The Unlikely, Uplifting Message of It: Chapter Two

All in all, the movie uses Barbie and the world we know to point out problems like patriarchy, feminism, and how women have to constantly fight the battles of feeling good or worthy enough. Not only does rap influence my life, it also influences the way I dress. If a rapper wears clothes by a certain designer or a particular brand, then I am more likely to want to wear the same thing. Rappers have a distinct “slang” that youth everywhere can identify with. Rap is unique because it speaks to me in a way that nothing else does.

The fact that artists belonging to a cultural movement that was all about social resistance are publicly endorsing big, capitalist brands may seem strange at first. Shouldn´t they advocate against consumerism and a capitalist system stacked against minority groups? Even though hip-hop started in the ghettos of New York, it didn’t take long for the rest of society to start taking note.

What is the message behind It?

My decision to begin reading the 1,137-page novel was also inspired by the release of the first trailer for the movie adaptation and to discover what it was that made It so terrifying. What I discovered is that It is so much more than a story of a creepy clown who stalks and kills kids but it also a story about growing up, nostalgia and the importance of friendship. In bringing out these themes—with a few scares along the way—are where King’s talent truly lies along with making the seven members of the Losers’ Club feel like a group of real eleven-year-old children with real-life problems. Yet, despite their different backgrounds, the seven children find themselves becoming friends in the summer of 1957 and ultimately, defeating Pennywise. However, after that summer as they grow up and move away from Derry, they gradually forget their childhood days until they are called back twenty-seven years later to defeat It once more.

YOU, at TV show streaming on Netflix that has gained the attention of many people.YOU is a show that follows the main character, Joe Goldberg, and his love interests. The romanticizing of stalkers and murderers anime quiz is far from the show’s intention. Making it suitable for many different audiences from teenagers to adults. But what makes YOU different is that it is a reminder to be cautious on social media and the people you meet, which sometimes can be unnerving.

Nevertheless, having a film about Barbie immediately sparked some debates since Barbie as a brand is in general quite controversial for many reasons; some of which are even brought up in the movie. Since it’s invention, Barbie has been an icon for women and girls and has held immense importance in societal popular culture. Unfortunately, while the intention of Barbie’s inventor was not malicious, the brand sparked problems surrounding stereotypes around women’s appearance and body image problems. In the movie, one character named Sasha explains how Barbie represents everything wrong in today’s culture and how it set back the feminist movement.

Personality/Behavior

And while “i” may have shaken the faith some fans who are dying to know how Kendrick is able to follow up his modern day classic body of work, now is not the time panic. Music is not always easy to digest and as a fan of Kendrick, I am embracing “i” not because I blindly accept whatever he releases. My support of the single is backed by the fact that he is one of the few hip-hop “stars” that effectively uses his platform to spread the message of learning from struggle and rising above it to become a better, more positive person.

Beyond the popcorn and entertainment, our commitment as a team is to follow the path the Lord lays out for us and to focus on His timing and instruction. Our ultimate purpose is to honor the Lord and challenge believers to go deeper in their walk with Him. It’s a task to listen when face-to-face, but when you are not, don’t listen just long enough to place what the other is sayinginto a pre-established pattern.

IT arrived on Earth in a massive cataclysmic event similar to an asteroid impact, landing in a location in North America that would eventually become Derry, Maine. Once people settled over this location, IT adopted its usual pattern of a year hibernation, waking to kill and eat. Each awakening and return to hibernation is sometimes marked by a violent and tragic act, such as a mass murder, suicide or weather event. In the period between, a series of child murders occurring in Derry are never taken too seriously or solved.
